UV Index
UV Index is a modeled prediction of the potential for skin damage due to UV radiation for current or future days. In contrast, the UV Index values available for viewing or download on this web site have been calculated from measurements made previously by sensors located at UV-B Network stations. These measurements are by radiometers which have an erythemal response and give greater weight to the shorter UV wavelengths which are more effective at damaging skin. Weighted measurements, made at a three minute sampling interval, are summed, or integrated, to provide a daily weighted dose which incorporates the measured, not modeled, effects of clouds and elevation. Daily values are then scaled by a conversion factor (divided by 25) to provide an index value in standardized units which are recognized internationally.

Graphs of the data are available for a time selection of a month or less. The graphs will be displayed along with a tabular view of the data used to create the graph. We also provide a feature to export the data to a file on your local computer in a comma delimited(CSV) format.

For any time duration greater than a month, use the end date option below. This will generate a data file that you can download to your local computer. Keep in mind a year's worth of data is about 14 megabytes, and will take almost a minute to generate.
